VM ZINC - roofing and facade cladding
Natural material
There are many reasons for choosing VM ZINC® for your roofing and facade projects. Zinc is naturally resistant to corrosion (faire un lien vers la rubrique concernée dans la section environnement), is extremely durable and does not require costly maintenance. In addition, the flexibility, malleability and versatility of zinc, combined with its pleasing aspect, make it the material of choice for imaginative building projects from individual homes to commercial complexes, public buildings and private projects.
A top performing alloy
VM ZINC® is rolled zinc alloyed with copper and titanium to produce a material with optimum mechanical and physical characteristics for building applications, particularly with regard to material's mechanical resistance and creep resistance.
VM ZINC® is composed of very high quality zinc Z1 (99,995% pure zinc), as defined by the EN 1179 standard, to which titanium and copper are added:
material | min. | max. |
titanium | 0,06% | 0,20% |
copper | 0,08% |
1,00% |
Copper increases the mechanical resistance of the alloy, making it harder and stronger.
Titanium increases creep resistance permitting greater thermal expansion and contractop, of the material without causing metal fatigue.
The PREMIUMZINC quality label for VM ZINC®.
The European Standard EN 988 has been applied since 1997 in 18 European countries. This standard imposes very stringent specifications for the composition of rolled zinc and its physical, mechanical and dimensional characteristics, which make it an international reference.
Whilst the VM ZINC® brand complies with all the specifications of the EN 988 standard, we have gone beyond the requirements of this standard to create the PREMIUMZINC quality label. This certification offers an even higher level of quality than EN 988 certification.
Surface aspects
Zinc combines beautifully with other materials
Whether it is used in renovation or new construction, traditional or avant-garde designs, zinc is an elegant partner for many building envelope materials, blending with wood, glass, stone and other materials in complete harmony.
In order to ensure that the envelope of your building or renovation project meets your specifications, VM ZINC® offers a variety of finishes ranging from natural zinc to pre-weathered zinc and lacquered zinc.
Natural VM ZINC®
When the zinc leaves the rolling mill it has a shiny, metallic surface aspect which changes over time as a natural, semi-mat, light grey patina is formed.
The natural light grey zinc has a textured, luminous quality that evokes the world of minerals. It enhances the appearance of the building from the very first day and for years to come.
Pre-weathered VM ZINC®
Pre-weathered QUARTZ-ZINC® and ANTHRA-ZINC® offer two different surface aspects. These are obtained by immersing natural VM ZINC® in a solution which modifies the crystalline structure of the surface of the metal at a thickness of approximately one micron. This treatment by phosphatization is a durable chemical conversion of the surface structure of the metal.
QUARTZ-ZINC ® has an appearance, from the start, similar to that of the natural patina normally obtained after several years of exposure to the atmosphere.
ANTHRA-ZINC ® is a dark grey zinc, often used with various materials because its charcoal aspect compliments this combination.
The PIGMENTO ® range is based on QUARTZ-ZINC® to which mineral pigments are added.
These colours, with their subtly changing reflections, inspire new ideas and blend perfectly with other materials.
The coloured finish preserves the natural texture of pre-weathered zinc.
3 colours are available:

Bilacquered VM ZINC ®
Bilacquered VM ZINC® is produced from natural rolled zinc covered on both sides with a layer of 20 µm polyester lacquer and 5 µm primer continuously applied then polymerised at a high temperature in a furnace.
